The “Official” Record or why UT won’t get a W for Rutgers on SECWB.com
by Kel Kyle, SECWB.com.

You may have noticed by now that there is no box score on our site for the Feb. 11, 2008 Rutgers vs. Tennessee game. The reason for that is we feel there was an officiating debacle which caused the game to be given to Tennessee. AND in protest of poor officiating and just on principle, you will not find a “W” posted for that Lady Vols game.

We’ve heard from many fans about this game, including longtime UT fans who feel Rutgers was indeed robbed of a “W”. And you know what? We think you’ll agree once you watch the evidence below.

NOTE: Be sure to WATCH the CLOCK not the video and LISTEN for the WHISTLE. You will see that the clock stopped way before the whistle blew.

As a longtime women’s college basketball supporter and SEC fan, I am appalled at the officiating of this game. Can anyone figure out how the refs can go to the table, watch the video and still get this WRONG? And how can Tennessee even lift their heads and call this a “W”? Even more so, how can the NCAA not investigate the officiating in this game? If this had happened in men’s college basketball, would the result be the same? Really?

We can only hope that the NCAA selection committee takes into consideration the circumstance under which UT got this win as they make their seeds for the NCAA tournament. I’m pretty sure they will, but then again, I never thought something this blatant wouldn’t get fixed either.
